Take early action to prevent the need for long-term care

Munich, December 2012. The Pflege-Neuausrichtungs-Gesetz-PNG (Care Reorientation Act) due to come into effect on January 1st 2013 is the response by the German Government to demographic change in that it supports voluntary private care insurance for the first time. Social long-term care insurance is thus to remain a part of basic healthcare provision, though in practice it does not always take account of the real needs of those requiring care, so there is still a necessity for private, individual insurance.

The new service program "Ich werde Mama" ("I'm going to be a mum") was started in September on behalf of BARMER GEK and is almeda's second program to deal with pregnancy and birth. The focus here is on detecting risks that can be controlled early on and working to reduce them.
